Lake Mburo Park

Lake  Mburo national park is Uganda’s smallest savannah park mainly occupied by woodland vegetation since there are no elephants to reduce on the woods. The park was at first a controlled hunting area and then later transformed into a game reserve which was shared by both the wildlife as the Banyankole who continued to use the plains as grazing grounds for their cattle. Lake Mburo was finally upgraded to a national park in 1983 during President Obote’s  regime.
The park is home to a to over 68 species of mammal,  over 300 bird species plus 13 small lakes and spectacular landscape making it another interesting safari destination to visit when in Uganda. Popularly sighted mammals include the zebras, warthogs, buffaloes, hippos, impala, elands and if lucky you may spot the Leopards and Jackals. Birds include the infamous African finfoot, shoebill , Abyssinian ground hornbill, Papyrus yellow warbler to mention but a few.
